This page tells you about events at Ashley Park.  Some are annual, some are equally regular, and some are impromptu.  Now that you've found this Events page, you should remember to come back here every so often to see what has changed.  It's this very page and the home page that are most frequently updated.

Block Party

The Ashley Park block party is normally held every year in late summer. Planning for this year’s even is already underway.  If you would like to help, contact Tonya Robins!

Pool Opening

Should be Memorial Day as usual.  Watch for notes soon on the pool cleaning party which is normally a week or two before the opening.

Easter Egg Hunt

Ashley Park sponsors and operates an Easter Egg Hunt every year the weekend before Easter.  Check the newsletter and this Web site for an announcement as to exactly where and when the next edition will take place.

Annual Members' Meeting

The annual board meeting to which all members are especially invited is held in May at the Lackman Library.

Watch the newsletter and this Web site for information on the time and place of the next annual board meeting.

Neighborhood Garage Sale

Once a year, usually in late Spring, Ashley Park has a three-day-long Neighborhood Garage Sale.  Banners announcing the event will be posted at the two main entrances and ads will be placed in the Kansas City Star and on its website.  We attract a large crowd and that makes selling much easier.

Look for an announcement in the newsletter or this Web site as to when the next Garage Sale will take place.

Curbside Trash Day and Dumpster Days

Once a year Lenexa and Shawnee have a Curbside Trash Pickup Day, which is when certain large items you want to get rid of -- items the trash company won't normally pick up -- will be disposed of for free (there is an extra charge for items containing Freon, please call the city to make an appointment).

Watch the newsletter and this Web site for an announcement when the next Trash Day is for your city.

Lenexa also provides, twice a year, a disposal service known as Dumpster Days for Lenexa residents.  The city yard across from MillCreek school will accept trash that Deffenbaugh normally will not take.  There is a minimal charge.  The link above provides more information.

Luminaries

Every Christmas Eve Ashley Park sets the mood for the season by lining all of our streets with luminaries.  These are white bags filled with sand.  A small votive type candle is included.  Each resident is asked to light their candles at dusk.  The neighborhood really looks great and we receive many compliments.  Just one more way that distinguishes Ashley Park as a very special place to live!
